Safe Sleep in Car Seats

Car seats are designed for travel safety, not for routine sleep. If your baby falls asleep in a car seat, you should transfer them to a firm, flat surface, such as a crib or bassinet, as soon as you reach your destination. Here are a few tips:

    • Always keep the straps snug and properly buckled, even if your baby is sleeping and you are carrying the seat outside the car.
    • Do not use unapproved headrests, pillows, inserts, or strap covers, as they can shift a baby's head forward and block their airway.
    • Ensure a newborn's chin does not slump toward their chest, which can restrict breathing.
    • Car seats should never be used in place of a crib, bassinet, or bed for overnight sleep or routine naps.
